Irazu, Poas and Arenal Volcano National Parks, Caño Negro Biological Preserve, Monteverde and Santa Elena Cloud Forests and Manuel Antonio National Park on the Pacific Ocean

Accompanied by a Costa Rican naturalist with private transportation, explore the some of the prime sites in Costa Rica. Cruise the Rio Frio River into the Caño Negro Preserve.  Climb around the base of the active Arenal Volcano. Search in the wonderful Cloud Forest Reserve for sightings of the Resplendent Quetzal at Monteverde. Excite your taste buds with the wonderfully varied foods and exotic tropical fruit drinks. The Costa Rica trip begins and ends in San Jose.

Day 1 -- Arrive at Hotel Bougainvillea, San Jose D

Day 2 -- All day excursion to Irazu Volcano and Lankester Botanical Gardens; Hotel Bougainvillea, San Jose.      D, L. 

Days 3--Photograh the Arenal and Poas Volcanos. Enjoy the Waterfall Gardens, humming bird sanctuary and largest butterfly garden in the country.  Hotel Los Lagos Lodge. B, D.

Day 4 -- Boat ride on the Rio Frio River through the Caño Negro Biological Reserve.  Hotel Los Lagos Lodge,   B, L, D.

Day 5 -- Travel to Monteverde and Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserves; Hotel El Establo.  B, L, D.

Day 6 -- Guided tour in the Cloud Forest Reserve; Hotel El Establo.  B, L, D.

Day 7 -- Journey from tropical cloud forest through tropical dry forest into tropical humid forest to Manuel Antonio National Park on the Pacific Ocean. Villa Teca. B, D.

Day 8-- A natural history walk in the Manuel Antonio National Park.  Villa Teca. B, D.

Day 9 -- Return to San Jose and take a city tour; Hotel Bougainvillea. B, D. 

Day 10 -- Departure for home. B



2009 Package price is $2495/person double occupancy; add $410 for a single room. 
Package includes
private transport, bilingual naturalist Costa Rican guide, group guide, lodging, normal daily luggage, food and lodging, tips, 9 breakfasts; 4 lunches, 8 dinners, daily snacks and entry fees to national parks and reserves as stipulated.


It does not include:
 airfare, airport transfers, trip insurance, meals not specified in the itinerary, local guide and driver tips.

Registration: To reserve a tour, a $300 deposit per person is required.  The balance is due 60 days out from the departure date.  Refund Policy: the $300 deposit is non-refundable; 60% of the trip balance will be refunded 60-30 days prior to travel; 20% will be refunded 29-15 days prior to travel; $0 will be refunded less than 15 days prior to travel.
