Yucatan Group Trip Description

Yucatan Group Itinerary       Yucatan Independent Itineraries

Join another unique S & S adventure, traveling along the Mayan Yucatan Peninsula through the states of Yucatán, Campeche, Chiapas, & Tabasco. Enjoy walking and  exploring the wonders of the ancient world on this impressive 8-day trip. We have scheduled the trip during the time of the year for ideal temperate weather. Re-live the golden years of the Yucatán Peninsula. This tour brings back to life the glorious days at the beginning of the 20th century when the Peninsula had its own "gold fever" with the industry of the henequen fiber, & hundreds of kilometers of rails were built among the lush vegetation of the Mayan jungle to link the wealthy sisal haciendas with their plantations & with the prosperous cities of Mérida & Campeche.

Discover the mysterious Mayan treasures at the UNESCO World Heritage archeological sites of Chichén-Itza, named one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Uxmal & Palenque. These symbols of the Mayan magnificence rise with majesty over the plains & the tropical forest mountains.

Be amazed at the genius & creativity of the imposing pre-Hispanic architectural masterpieces. Unlock the secrets of these master builders, who were referred to as "The Greeks of America."
Be enchanted by the history, color & regional flavor of the beautiful colonial capital cities of Mérida & Campeche. Mérida, a lovely city of elegance & aristocracy, of wide avenues & white palaces, is known as the "Ciudad Blanca" (the white city).

Take a tour through the Palacio Canton Regional Archeology Museum that houses Mayan artifacts. Witness a light & sound show that reminds you of the golden years of the Mayas living in "Ah-Kim-Pech" (serpent tick), & the battles between the pirates & the Spaniards. Stroll the quiet streets of this fortified city facing the ocean. Guarded by strong bastions from ancient pirates, Campeche was one of the main ports of New Spain, channeling a large number of Yucatecan products. Soak up Mexico's Garden of Eden, the state of Tabasco, where everything is green & everywhere is water. Marvel at the enormous Olmec heads weighing an average of 20 tons each on La Venta tour in Villahermosa. The tour begins in Villahermosa, Tabasco, & ends in Mérida, Yucatán.

Float among the American pink flamingos in their sanctuary at Celestun, and to the restored Henequen Haciendas, on a 2-day optional extension.

This all-inclusive 8-day land package includes all hotels, all meals, all tours, all transfers, all tips.  The package does not include airfare or trip insurance.
